My restoration....
Basically I removed as much weight as possible because the engine was to be for show only. I was able to acquire everything but the blower sheave which I had to fabricate.  After that, I made the stand and completed the work.
Some notes....
There continues to be a considerable amount of interest in the flathead. There are books, web sites and clubs dedicated to the flathead. I am aware of about a dozen blowers out there and some of them are still in running order.  The response that I have received has been terrific.
The book "How to Hop Up Ford & Mercury V-8 Engines" by Roger Huntington has some interesting facts about the blown flathead. Several points that he makes is that the blower sold for about $125 during the period 1937-1940, and that it was was popular with truck owners.  I noticed that in his picture of the blowers, that they were shown to have 3 driver belts. My blower only has 2 driver belts for some reason.
In the model number scheme, the 39 is the year and the M is for Mercury while F is for Ford. We found  that the Aerosport airplane used the Ford flathead engine but it seems unlikely that they were supercharged.
About the past...
My brother and I acquired the blower in the '50's when we had more money than sense. We raced this blower  several times. In those days we didn't pay much attention to the tech stuff, if it ran good, then that's what we did. I don't know how much boost we got but if memory serves me right, I think we knocked the bearings out of that engine.
About Me....google me
I finally quit that wild stuff,
got married, had kids, invented  HOWYPOOL,the ForeHoe and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Worked for about 25 years and retired in 1989.
